THE CULT Confirm Split With ATLANTIC — Band 'On Hiatus'
September 24, 2002THE CULT have officially split with Lava/Atlantic Records (who released the band's acclaimed 2001 CD, Beyond Good & Evil) and are currently "on hiatus," according to guitarist Billy Duffy and vocalist Ian Astbury, who were the featured guests on the syndicated radio show Rockline last night.
Although the group — completed by bassist Craig Adams (THE MISSION) and drummer Scott Garrett (GOD LIVES UNDERWATER) — have announced a series of headlining shows on the West Coast in October, there are no plans for THE CULT to write and record a new CD, according to the duo, who encouraged fans to flood Atlantic Records with phone calls and e-mails as part of a concentrated effort to help them gain control of the Beyond… material.
